Durability rating

A value in a four-class rating system indicating a level of resistance to fungal organisms that cause decay (rot).

Two ratings are provided for each species or species group (above-ground durability rating and in-ground durability rating), to be applied according to the corresponding situation; the ratings apply to sound, untreated (natural) heartwood.
