Conditional use codes

These codes indicate the recommended uses and restrictions or conditions of use for a timber.

'Approved' means the timber is recommended for that particular application;
'Not approved' means the timber is not approved for that application.
C or H codes indicate that the timber is recommended for use in that application, provided the specification and timber used meets the minimum provision described by these codes:
 


Below are a list of values users can choose for this field group.

  • Approved - Approved for this application.
  • C1 - Approved only if these conditions are met: De-sapped for portion in ground contact if untreated.
  • C10 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Recommended to be partially seasoned to not more than 20% moisture content
  • C11 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Not permitted for in-ground poles in pole frame construction; must be set on stirrups or similar
  • C12 - Single species only, free of heart-in material (material within 50 mm of the tree pith)
  • C13 - Approved only if these conditions are met: De-sapped for portion in-ground contact—minimum diameter 200 mm
  • C14 - Approved only if these conditions are met: De-sapped for portion in-ground contact—minimum diameter 300 mm
  • C15 - Approved only if these conditions are met: De-sapped for portion in-ground contact—minimum diameter 400 mm
  • C16 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Seasoned
  • C17 - Approved only if these conditions are met: For weather-exposed door jambs and mullions; can only be used in non-structural applications subject to compliance with industry recommendations
  • C2 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Minimum dimensions to be 100 mm x 100 mm
  • C3 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Minimum dimensions to be 150 mm x 150 mm
  • C4 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Minimum dimensions to be 200 mm x 200 mm
  • C5 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Round timber only—minimum treatment level H4
  • C6 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Round timber > 200 mm diameter only—minimum treatment level H4
  • C7 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Round timber > 200 mm diameter only—minimum treatment level H5
  • C8 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Round timber > 300 mm diameter only—minimum treatment level H5
  • C9 - Approved only if these conditions are met: Round timber > 400 mm diameter only—minimum treatment level H5
  • H1 - H level 1. The minimum level of preservative treatment required to protect this timber from attack by insects other than termites. Suitable in above-ground, well-ventilated situations protected from weather and wetting.
  • H2 - H level 2. The minimum level of preservative treatment required to protect the timber from attack by insects, including termites. H2 preservative treatments are suitable in above-ground, well-ventilated situations protected from weather and wetting.
  • H3! - H level 3. The minimum level of preservative treatment required to protect the timber in situations above-ground, exposed to the weather or periodic wetting. !!Must be treatable commercially to H3 level.
  • H4! - H level 4. The minimum level of preservative treatment required to protect the timber in situations where the timber is in contact with the ground or is continually damp. !!Must be treatable commercially to H4 level.
  • H5! - H level 5. The minimum level of preservative treatment required to protect the timber situations where timber is in contact with the ground or fresh water. !!Must be treatable commercially to H5 level.
  • Not approved - Not allowed for this application.
